Altiva Software Announces Three New Case Studies
May 1, 2006 (Houston, TX)—Altiva Software has published three new case studies detailing customers’ experience using CADconform. Key representatives from BHP Billiton Iron Ore, Kansas Department of Transportation, and Powerlink were interviewed for the case studies which are all available on the Altiva website Case Studies section.
“Having customers go on the record and discuss the details of their business and how CADconform has helped them over the years provides a powerful message,” said Altiva Software CEO Philip Hurlston. “These case studies provide useful, detailed information about CADconform implementation, strategic data re-use from the standards-conformed CAD data, and ROI calculations.”
The three case studies are:
Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT).
The KDOT Cartography and Geospatial Information Systems Unit (C/GIS) has been using CADconform since 2002. The Unit uses CADconform to enforce CAD standards for the almost 1,000 unique maps produced for the state of Kansas. The standards-conformed map data is used as input to the state’s GIS to meet requirements from the Federal Highway Administration and the U.S. Department of Homeland security for safety, disaster preparedness, and homeland security.
BHP Billiton Iron Ore (BHP BIO).
Raging industrial development from India and China have created unprecedented demand for iron ore, a key ingredient in making steel. BHP BIO, one of the world’s major suppliers of iron ore, must develop and maintain facilities to mine, process and ship the ore from its Australia mining operations to Asia and the rest of the world; CAD drawings are critical to this work.
BHP BIO chose CADconform to promote and enforce CAD standards for the 150,000 CAD drawings in its system, which are worked on by a staff of in-house drafters and 20 to 30 outside contractor-consultant companies. BHP BIO estimates that CADconform is saving them $3.25 million USD per project.
Powerlink.
A recognized world leader in the operation and maintenance of high-voltage electricity transmission, Powerlink develops and operates the high-voltage transmission network in Queensland, Australia. The company chose CADconform to ensure the quality and data integrity of its more than 300,000 CAD drawings and increase the efficiency of its workflow. Powerlink was able to implement a complete standards system for CAD drawings with CADconform in just 5 days.
The standards-conformed CAD drawings have enabled the use of an online drawing viewing system. This viewing system provides Powerlink workers with access the very latest version of a drawing, ensuring accurate information and significantly contributing to Powerlink’s health, safety and environmental (HSE) program. The standards-conformed CAD drawings will also enable the company’s planned move to intelligent design systems.
More case studies are currently being developed and will be posted on the Altiva Software website on approval by the client.
