Altiva demonstrated the very latest CADconform for MicroStation at the Bentley Conference

Altiva generated interest at the Live Zone booth with the latest release of CADconform V7.1.12. The top two, most exciting enhancements are:

1. Custom VBA reporting - CADconform's interactive checking of drawing-quality (border-text etc.) named "Live Drawing Intelligence." Some of the "checks" that may be programmed in your custom VBA are shown below.

Other custom products from the ControlCAD suite were also of great interest:

• ControlCAD Indexer used to create Meta data to populate ProjectWise attributes

• ControlCAD Submittal for checking drawings within ProjectWise interactively or

• Managers' Report Tool which runs batch reports over night or weekends and emails reports to the Project Managers

BE Conference Wrapped Up the last week of May

Bentley's Be Together: The Bentley User Conference took place May 23-26, 2011 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Philadelphia, Pa.

The Live Zone and workshop were well attended and numbered over 1000. Some of the announcements from Bentley's Keynote Presentations were:

• Apps for mobile devices (such as the iPad) are now available

• A simple DGN viewer which can search for text strings

• No major releases of MicroStation planned, just incremental releases of v8i like Select Series 3

• Bentley's Windows 7-specific development and support will be for V8i only

• Forthcoming 64-bit editions will require Windows 7

• Microsoft has already deprecated support for Windows XP and will "retire" it in 2014

• Bentley will not support Bentley software running on "retired" Microsoft operating systems

• Bentley will truncate support for V8/2004 in 2014
